LEVEL 1 INSTRUCTOR

You should take this course if you love to snowboard, and have a desire to introduce new students to snowboarding. You should be confident and comfortable both communicating and demonstrating in front of a group, as well as have strong intermediate snowboarding skills. This 3-day course will introduce you to the fundamentals of snowboard technique and teaching.


Beyond Level 1, CASI offers three levels of snowboard instructor certification, as well as a Park Instructor certification, Evaluator Training and various Improvement Sessions. To find out more, please select a course from below...

LEVEL 2 INSTRUCTOR

You should take this course if you are a Level 1 Instructor with some teaching experience (we recommend 45 hours), love to teach, and have a desire to take your teaching skills to the next level. You should be confident and comfortable demonstrating intermediate riding in corresponding terrain. This 4-day course will build on the knowledge introduced in the Level 1 including teaching intermediate riders, and more advanced teaching skills.
 

LEVEL 3 INSTRUCTOR

You should take this course if you are a Level 2 Instructor with plenty of teaching experience, including beginner to intermediate students in a variety of situations. You should love to teach, and have a desire to take your teaching skills to new areas of the mountain - groomed terrain, freeride terrain, and the terrain park. You should be confident and comfortable demonstrating advanced riding skills in corresponding terrain, and have an interest in learning to train fellow instructors.
 

LEVEL 4 INSTRUCTOR

You should take this course if you are a Level 3 Instructor with extensive full-time teaching experience, preparation, and training. This should include teaching beginner, intermediate and advanced students in a variety of situations as well as instructor training experience (either at your school, or as a CASI Evaluator). You should have numerous seasons of experience as a full-time snowboard instructor, and wish to further pursue your career in the industry.
 

PARK INSTRUCTOR

You should take this course if you are a Level 1 instructor with a love of freestyle snowboarding. You should have a desire to introduce new students to snowboarding in the park safely and successfully. You should also be confident and comfortable both communicating and demonstrating in front of a group. This course will a great prep for the Level 3 Instructor course.

MEMBER
SESSIONS

As a CASI member, you qualify for supplementary training sessions. Training sessions are provided by qualified CASI Evaluators and trainers, and are available through your snow school, or from CASI directly...and they're free!
 

PREP
COURSES

Prepare for the Level 3 and 4 exams with an exam prep course. These 1 and 2 day courses will provide you with an overview of the exam process, cerficiation standards, and feedback before proceeding to exams.
 

EVALUATOR
TRAINING

CASI Evaluators are trained and certified using a combination of yearly training course / updates and on-course apprenticeship time. Level 3 instructors who wish to become CASI Evaluators should attend an Evaluator Training course at their chosen location - this is the first step in becoming a certified Level 1 Evaluator.
 

CASI Refund Policy:

Refunds and transfers must be requested in writing via email. Please include your full name, member number, and course date(s) and location(s). Please allow 2 business days for your request to be processed.

For course transfers AND cancellations, the following penalties will be applied:

  • More than 2 weeks (>14 days) from the start of the program: Cancelation / Transfer fee: No fee
  • Within 2 weeks (14 days) of the start of the program: Cancelation / Transfer fee: 30% of course fee
  • Within 1 week (7 days) of the start of the program: Cancelation / Transfer fee: 50% of course fee
  • Within 3 days (72 hours) of the start of the program (or no-show on day of course): Cancelation fee: 100% of course fee (no refund) and No transfers are permitted within this time

Notes:

Transfers are possible only towards the same program, within the same season, and within the same province. If no transfer is possible, the refund policy will automatically apply. If you wish to change programs between provinces, you will be required to cancel and re-register in your desired province.

Refunds and transfers requested for medical reasons will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be supported by acceptable supporting medical documentation.

CASI reserves the right to cancel any program without prior notice, and will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by the participant. In that event, registration fees will be refunded in full.

All CASI programs have a limited number of spaces available and can fill up before the registration deadline. In that event, CASI reserves the right to refuse participants. Please note CASI does NOT operate waiting lists for courses and any open spaces will be made available on our web site.

Please note that lift tickets are not included in the course registration fee. Please see your Evaluator on the morning of Day 1 prior to purchasing tickets, as group prices and/or discounts are on occasion available. Transport and accommodations for the course are the responsibility of the candidates. Information regarding accommodations may be obtained by calling the resort prior to the course. Note, due to COVID-19 regulations, there may be some additional lift ticket procedures required at the resort.
