Snowboard Courses

COVID-19 Policies & Procedures (2022-23)

The purpose of this document is to guide our course operations during the 2022-23 season in consideration of COVID-19 requirements. Where resort guidelines or those of the local Health Authority and this document differ, we will follow whichever guideline supersedes or is more stringent than the others.

As the situation surrounding COVID-19 is constantly evolving so may this document. CASI will endeavour to work with individual resorts where required to ensure all parties are comfortable with hosting / running CASI courses at the resort.

Goals

  • Ensure the safety and health of candidates on CASI courses
  • Ensure the safety and health of CASI Evaluators
  • Ensure the safety and health of resort employees and other resort guests
  • To act as leaders and examples of best practices at resorts
  • To work closely with resorts to ensure CASI is meeting their requirements and having as little impact as possible on resort operations

Daily Health Self-Assessments

For Evaluators:

  • Prior to beginning each course day, Evaluators will self-assess their health status according to the following questions:
    • Are you presently experiencing any flu-like symptoms such as cough, fever, sore throat or shortness of breath?
    • Have you received a positive COVID test in the last 7 days?
    • Are you currently required to self-isolate?
  • If answering “yes” to any of the questions above, Evaluators must not travel to the resort or teach on any CASI program that day.

For course candidates:

  • Course candidates will be asked to self-assess daily according to the same questions above, and to stay home should they exhibit any symptoms.
  • Evaluators will confirm with candidates verbally at the start of each course the procedures should symptoms arise during the course (refer to the Isolation / Response Plan (point B), below).

Isolation/Response Plan:

A) If an Evaluator begins to develop symptoms during the day:

  • They will immediately notify the group and isolate themselves from the group.
  • The course will be cancelled at this point as we will no longer be able to fulfil the minimum requirements of the course.
  • The RC will contact candidates to make further arrangements.

B) If a candidate begins to develop symptoms during the day:

  • They will immediately notify the Evaluator and isolate themselves from the group.
  • They will not be able to return to the course.
  • The Evaluator will immediately notify their RC and fill out an incident report at the end of the day.
  • The affected candidate will be encouraged to leave the resort, seek testing, and isolate until results are received.

Courses:

  • All course daily meeting places will be outdoors.
  • Courses will be presented outdoors entirely, with no indoor lectures or workshops required.
  • Daily debrief sessions will be conducted on-snow at the end of each day.
  • Course results will be presented outdoors whenever possible.

Refund Policy:

  • While we will continue to enforce our refund policy under normal circumstances, adjustments will be made in COVID-related situations so that there are no financial barriers in place to prevent candidates from doing the right thing and staying away if they are showing any symptoms.
  • CASI’s refund policy is as follows:
    • Refunds and transfers must be requested in writing via email. Please allow 2 business days for your request to be processed. For cancellations, the following penalties will be applied: Within 2 weeks (14 days) of the start of the program: 70% of the registration fee will be refunded. Within 1 week (7 days) of the start of the program: 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. Within 3 days (72 hours) of the start of the program (or no-show): No refund.

Course Transfers:

  • Course transfers will be charged a $25.00 administration fee.

  • Transfers are possible only towards a program of equal cost, within the same season. If no transfer is possible, the refund policy will automatically apply.

  • Refunds and transfers requested for medical reasons will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be supported by a medical note.

  • CASI-ACMS reserves the right to cancel any program without prior notice, and will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by the participant. In that event, registration fees will be refunded in full.

  • All CASI programs have a limited number of spaces available and can fill up before the registration deadline. In that event, CASI reserves the right to refuse participants and to put them on a waiting list.

Should you at any time feel concerned that you should not attend your course due to COVID related symptoms please stay at home and contact your Regional Coordinator. They will discuss course transfer and refund options with you.
